Enabling Verified Mode on Chromebooks

Starting in 2026, Bluebook will work on Chromebooks only if verified mode is enabled. This setting enhances test security. We encourage you to configure it now. Once you enable it for the organizational unit where Bluebook is installed, any device added later will inherit the setting.

If Bluebook Isn’t Installed

If Bluebook isn’t installed already, go to How to Install Bluebook on Chromebooks for complete instructions, including the steps to enable verified mode.

If Bluebook Is Installed

If Bluebook is already installed on your Chromebooks, take these steps to enable verified mode:

  1. Use your administrator account to sign in to the Admin console at admin.google.com.
  2. Go to Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions > Kiosks.
  3. Select the organizational unit where Bluebook is installed.
  4. Select Bluebook from the Apps list to view its kiosk settings.
  5. Scroll down and click the caret to expand the extension ID.
  6. Set Allow enterprise challenge to enabled.
  7. Click SAVE in the upper right corner of the screen.
  8. Without exiting the organizational unit, go to Devices > Chrome > Settings.
  9. On the Device Settings tab, select Verified mode.
  10. Set Configuration to Require verified mode boot for verified access.
  11. Paste this email into the Services with full access field:
  1. Click Save.
  2. Open Bluebook on some of your testing devices and click Test Your Device on the sign-in screen. If you see a checkmark next to Verified Mode, you configured the setting correctly.
  3. Important: To avoid file corruption, wait a few minutes before closing Bluebook so it can load the extension. Find out how to detect and fix a corrupted file.
