Enabling Verified Mode

Verified mode must now be enabled on Chromebooks. This setting enhances test security. Once you enable it for the organizational unit where Bluebook is installed, any device added later will inherit the setting.

Learn more about the verified mode requirement.

If Bluebook Isn’t Installed

If Bluebook isn’t installed already, go to How to Install Bluebook on Chromebooks for complete instructions, including the steps to enable verified mode.

If Bluebook Is Installed

If Bluebook is already installed on your Chromebooks, take the steps listed below to enable verified mode.

Part 2: Require Verified Mode Boot

  1. Without exiting the organizational unit, go to Devices > Chrome > Settings.
  2. Click the Device Settings tab at the top of the screen and select Verified mode.

  2. Set Configuration to Require verified mode boot for verified access.
  3. Paste this email into the Services with full access field:

Part 3: Check the Configuration

  1. Open Bluebook on some of your testing devices and click Test Your Device on the sign-in screen. If you see a checkmark next to Verified Mode, you configured the setting correctly.
  2. Open Bluebook on a device belonging to any lower organizational units to make sure they inherited the verified mode boot setting. Devices for students with accommodations might be assigned to a lower OU, for example.
  3. Important: To avoid file corruption, wait a few minutes before closing Bluebook so it can load the extension. Find out how to detect and fix a corrupted file.
