Network Requirements
Bluebook testing won’t work unless these network requirements are met.
Internet Access
An internet connection is required at the start and end of the test, but students can keep testing if their connection drops momentarily.
Make sure testing staff and students can access the internet. You may need to set up guest access.
SAT Weekend test centers: Students and staff must be allowed to use personal devices even if they’re unaffiliated with your institution.
Schools: Depending on your policy, students and staff using personal devices or unaffiliated with your school may need internet access.
Network Speed
The table below includes the bandwidth requirements for each test.
Keep in mind that demands on the network vary as students progress through the test, with greater demands at the beginning and end. And because each student starts their test when they enter a code, their start and stop times are never perfectly simultaneous. Optional: Learn how large Bluebook data transfers are.

Bypass List
Let traffic to and from these domains bypass firewalls, content filters, proxy servers, and any other security appliances or software:
- College Board: Use a wildcard at the root level to make Bluebook testing possible: *.collegeboard.org
- Apple App Store: Enable Bluebook updates if students are testing on Macs or iPads
- Sentry: Use a wildcard at the root level to help us troubleshoot test day issues: *.sentry.io
