How Proctors Use Test Day Toolkit
Proctors use Test Day Toolkit for all Bluebook testing.
Before Test Day
Encourage staff to sign in to the upcoming administration in Test Day Toolkit before test day. They’ll get an access email when you add them. Tip: Track staff access by checking the Sign-In Success column on the Test Day Toolkit Staff page.
On Test Day
When proctors sign in, Test Day Toolkit takes them straight to the page for their room and walks them through these activities:
Getting ready: Check the room and write instructions on the board.
Taking attendance (AP Exams, SAT School Day, and PSAT-related assessments): Mark students present after they sign in to Bluebook and enter the room code.
Checking students in (SAT Weekend): Use Test Day Toolkit to verify students’ identity and check them in to the room.
Reading the script: Read a short script, check desks, and provide students with a start code.
Monitoring the test: Maintain security and check student progress on the dashboard.
Collecting materials: Collect all scratch paper and any other materials required for a particular exam.
Verifying answer submission: Make sure answers are submitted before students leave.
Group dismissal (AP Exams, SAT School Day, and PSAT-related assessments): Dismiss students with submitted answers before helping any students with unsubmitted answers.
Individual dismissal (SAT Weekend): When a student is ready to leave, make sure their answers were submitted and collect their scratch paper.
Reporting irregularities (SAT Weekend, SAT School Day, and PSAT-related assessments): Answer a few questions and submit the report to the coordinator for review.
Key Differences Between Tests
The proctor experience in Test Day Toolkit differs slightly from test to test.
Student sign-in tickets: For SAT School Day and PSAT-related assessments, proctors give students the sign-in tickets they use to access Bluebook. Students taking AP Exams and SAT Weekend sign in with their College Board accounts.
Exam materials: For hybrid digital AP Exams, Test Day Toolkit includes instructions for the handling of booklets and AP ID label sheets.
Room check-in: SAT Weekend proctors use Test Day Toolkit to verify a student’s identity and check them in to the room. For other tests, proctors mark students present on the Attendance screen.
Room codes and start codes: While all students enter a start code, room codes are used only by students taking AP Exams, SAT School Day, or PSAT-related assessments. Test Day Toolkit provides these codes for proctors to share with students.
Dismissal: SAT Weekend proctors dismiss each student individually after their test ends. For other tests, proctors usually dismiss students as a group.
Reporting problems: For SAT Weekend, SAT School Day, and PSAT-related assessments, proctors use Test Day Toolkit to report irregularities. For AP Exams, proctors let their AP coordinator know about any incidents.
