Windows Requirements
Attention Windows 10 Users: We strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 before Microsoft ends support of Windows 10 in October. Starting in fall 2026, Bluebook won’t work on Windows 10.
Supported Windows devices vary by test:
- AP Exams and SAT Suite: School-managed and personal Windows laptops, Windows desktops, and Windows tablets. School-managed devices can be shared or assigned to students 1-to-1.
- SAT Weekend: School-managed and personal Windows laptops and Windows tablets. School-managed devices must be assigned to students 1-to-1. Students who borrow a shared device to take the SAT Weekend must complete exam setup on the same device they take the test on.

Operating Systems
- Recommended version: Windows 11.
- Required minimum: Windows 10 is allowed until fall 2026, but it’s risky to use it after Microsoft ends support in October 2025.
- Excluded: S mode and Windows 11 SE.
Bluebook can’t be installed on versions below the required minimum, and it hasn’t been fully tested on versions higher than the maximum. We strongly recommend preventing automatic operating system updates to avoid technical issues on test day.
