Prepare Your School Device for SAT Weekend

If you plan to take SAT Weekend on a school-managed device, don’t wait to take these steps.

3 Reasons to Start Early

Chromebooks

Any student who wants to test on a Chromebook needs someone at their school to install Bluebook and apply required settings. That’s because Bluebook is available on Chromebooks only when they’re managed by your school through the Admin console.

What Your School Needs to Do

Ask your school to:

  1. Install Bluebook.

  2. Check the network auto-connect setting to make sure you can connect to Wi-Fi at your SAT Weekend test center, even if it’s not your school.

  3. Apply all other required settings.

  4. Clear space on your testing device.

  5. Enable the floating accessibility menu if you test with approved accommodations.

Point them to the Chromebook Checklist for complete instructions for installing Bluebook and configuring Chromebooks.

What You Need to Do

  1. Open Bluebook on your testing device and click Test Your Device to make sure your device meets requirements.

  2. Check network settings by taking a practice test on your device somewhere that’s out of range of your school network—and use any accommodations you’re approved for.

Because Bluebook runs in kiosk mode, you may be unfamiliar with the experience even if you use Chromebooks frequently. Learn how to open Bluebook on a Chromebook and use accessibility features.

Windows, Mac, and iPad

  1. Try to download Bluebook on your testing device.

  2. If you can’t download the app yourself, ask your school to install Bluebook for you. Point them to Device Readiness info for IT.

  3. Ask your school to make sure Bluebook is allowed to auto-update and that all other required settings are applied.

  4. Open Bluebook on your device and click Test Your Device to make sure your device meets requirements.

  5. Take a practice test outside your school. If you test with accommodations, practice using them when you take the test.

  6. Clear space on your testing device.
