Bluebook Releases
If deployed properly, Bluebook performs routine updates when students launch it, but releases occasionally require a new deployment. If Bluebook cannot auto-update, a message displays that reinstallation is needed before students can test.

Update Bluebook Before Test Day to Avoid Delays
Bluebook auto-updates when students open it, but too many simultaneous updates could overwhelm your network and delay testing. Ask students to open Bluebook on their own before test day or any group readiness activities. They don’t need to sign in.
Tips:
- Allow Bluebook to auto-update.
- Remember that firewalls can prevent updates.
Release Notes
| June 25, 2026: Required Update Released | This release improves test-day reliability and adds new student features. Macs and iPads are now blocked from testing unless the app is fully updated, so devices should be updated ahead of time. Students can resize the on-screen Desmos calculator, enlarge images with a new lightbox overlay, and use new Greek and stats symbol palettes in the FRQ toolbar. Unless blocked, Bluebook will auto-update on Windows devices the next time it’s opened. Students don’t need to sign in. To avoid overwhelming your network and causing delays, ask students to open Bluebook themselves before test day or group readiness sessions. If testing devices don’t allow Bluebook auto-updates, take action to make sure students can use Bluebook. |
