How do I prepare school-managed devices for students taking SAT Weekend?

Your students can use a device managed by your school to take SAT Weekend at any test center, but they may need your help installing the Bluebook testing app or changing device settings.

Students using a school-managed device could face issues on test day that prevent testing, and their troubleshooting options will be limited since they’re unable to control settings.

To help these students test successfully on the weekend, possibly at another school, take these steps:

  • Make sure the device meets requirements.

  • Clear space.

  • Install Bluebook if students can’t.

  • Allow Bluebook to auto-update. Students must always use the latest version.

  • Remove restrictions that could prevent devices from connecting to Wi-Fi outside your school.

  • Apply all required settings.

Windows laptops and tablets, Mac laptops, and iPads: You’ll find installation instructions and required settings at Device Readiness.

Chromebooks: Bluebook runs in kiosk mode, so it’s available on Chromebooks only when they’re managed through the Admin console in Google Workspace. This means students can’t take the test on a Chromebook unless you:

  • Install Bluebook.

  • Check the network auto-connect setting and other settings and clear space.

  • Enable the floating accessibility menu for students who need it; they can’t use their custom settings in kiosk mode.
