Bluebook Updates

If deployed properly, Bluebook performs routine updates when students launch it, but releases occasionally require a new deployment. If Bluebook cannot auto-update, a message displays that reinstallation is needed before students can test.

Checking Your Devices

The best way to prevent test day problems is to open Bluebook on one of the devices you deployed to and make sure it displays the login screen.

Tips:

  • Be sure to check each device type you deployed to.
  • Remember that firewalls can prevent updates.

Avoid Test Day Delays

Bluebook auto-updates when students open it. Too many simultaneous updates could overwhelm your network and delay testing. Ask students to open Bluebook on their own before test day or any group readiness activities. They don’t need to sign in.

Release Notes

September 26, 2024:
Required Update Released

Unless blocked, Bluebook will auto-update the next time it’s opened. Students don’t need to sign in. To avoid overwhelming your network and causing delays, ask students to open Bluebook themselves before test day or group readiness sessions.

If testing devices don’t allow Bluebook auto-updates, perform manual updates to make sure students can use Bluebook.

This is a routine but required update to make minor adjustments—students can’t use Bluebook without it.

Critical Release Could Require Reinstall on macOS 11

Devices running macOS 11: Try opening Bluebook so it can auto-update. If the app doesn’t open, you have these options:

  • Upgrade to macOS 12 through macOS 14.6.1 and open Bluebook to update the app.
  • To stick with a supported version of macOS 11, go to the Mac app store and update Bluebook or reinstall Bluebook using your mobile device management (MDM) platform.

All other devices: Unless blocked, Bluebook will auto-update the next time it’s opened. If testing devices don’t allow Bluebook auto-updates, perform manual updates to make sure students can use Bluebook.
